My Journey finding the “One” (and only skin care regimen)
Since the days of boy bands, my first visit from Mother Nature, and awareness of makeup, I’ve been searching for the right skincare regimen. At 13 my mom took me to the Clinique counter and I got the ever-so-popular 3 step skin package. It was ok, I didn’t like the yellow bar soap, and the toner was too strong for me at the time, but it worked for a while.
Then it was all about Clearasil with all their onslaught of commercials toting clear skinned teens having fun, and I tried it just to find out it was WAY TOO STRONG!
I can’t really remember what I used in the early years of college for cleanser, but I did swear by Infinite Aloe Moisturizer. (Yes, the one they sold at mall carts all over the nation!) And I used Infinite Aloe for years, but then I started breaking out probably half way through college. So I switched to all Aveeno products, influenced by my roommate. The products that worked for me were the: Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser and the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer. And I did absolutely love that combo for a long time. But once again, I started breaking out more often and decided it was time for a change. And I think I found the holy grail.
The phrase “Keep it Simple Stupid” comes to mind, because my new regimen is…….Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser followed by Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer. That’s it.( I am trying to use the Cetaphil Daily Mositurizer with SPF 30 in the day time but I always forget.) I absolutely love Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser because It’s so easy with the pump, it’s gentle and unscented, and most importantly, I don’t break out!! Added bonus, it’s about $9.99 for a 16oz. bottle. The moisturizer is light and gets the job done. I should probably use it all over my body but I’m too lazy.
BEWARE: the Cetaphil products all look the same, and the one you want to buy is the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, NOT the Cetaphil Daily Cleanser (which is clear in apprearance and scented). Just double check before you purchase, I didn’t and am now stuck with a giant bottle of the Daily Cleanser. Wah wah.
If you haven’t tried it, it’ll only set you back about $10 for a small sized Cetaphil Cleanser and Moisturizer. Hope this helps those of you still searching for “The One”.
